VMLogix Launches Cross Platform Virtualized Lab Manager - InformationWeek

Startup VMLogix have launched LabManager, a merchandise for conducting software system system constructs and testing new software as it come ups out of the development process.

VMware, the dominant virtualization vendor, have a similar merchandise by the same name, VMware Lab Manager, first introduced in November 2006. VMLogix was a few calendar months behind, launching LabManager in July 2007. In the current 3.3 version release announced Jan. 28, VMLogix LabManager can carry on software system quality self-assurance and testing in virtualized environments under VMware's ESX Waiter or Citrix XenServer, "the lone practical laboratory mechanization solution on the marketplace to back up XenServer."

"We are finally presenting an option to VMware," said Sameer Dholakia, CEO, in an interview.

Support for Microsoft's Hyper-V hypervisor will soon follow, as well as Prophet and Sun Microsystems hypervisors, both based on XenSource's Xen hypervisor, Dholakia said. VMLogix seeks to be the first cross seller provider of virtualization diagnostic test laboratory software.

VMLogix LabManager is designed to assist a software system system development squad behavior fast, repeatable diagnostic tests on software in a virtualized environment, reducing the figure of waiters needed for the diagnostic test lab, Dholakia said in an interview.

LabManager gaining controls the constellations and software system system stack combinations in an environment that is being tested, along with diagnostic test books used to run new software in that environment. "In the past, the diagnostic test director had to compose usage codification to make all that," Dholakia said.

Lab direction software system typically gaining controls digital snapshots of existing unrecorded machine operations, reproducing those constellations in a practical environment where bugs and mutual exclusivenesses introduced by new codification may demo up.

VMLogix' LabManager is priced at $25,000 per server, plus $2,500 per invitee agent, optional software system that gaining controls the information science computer address of a running play practical machine and studies it to LabManager. IBM have certified VMLogix LabManager as ready to work with its Rational Construct Forge, its Rational tools software system system for automating the insistent undertakings of the software construct or compiling process.

VMLogix was founded in 2004 in Palo Alto, Calif., with an technology squad in Bangalore, India. It is funded by the venture working capital houses Bain Capital Ventures and Trilogy.
